Abron, Ivory Coast
The Abron or Bono are an Akan people of West Africa.
They speak the Abron language.
In
the late sixteenth century, the Abron founded the
Gyaaman kingdom and Bono state in what is now Ghana
and Côte d'Ivoire.
The Abron tribe of the Akan is one of the smaller
tribes in Ghana and one of the few matrilineal
societies in West Africa.
The
biggest one beeing the Ashanti. Figures from the Fante
and Abron regions often have rectangular or
cone-shaped heads.
