Canal Cheong-Jagerroos

Canal är en konstnär med rötter i traditionellt kinesiskt måleri och i enlighet med gammal tradition använder hon sig främst av bläck och rispapper. Motiven i Canals målningar är inspirerade av kinesisk filosofi, litteratur och poesi.

Under de 15 senaste åren har Canal utvecklat en intensiv och effektiv teknik; bläck och rispapper utgör fortfarande grunden i hennes måleri men blandas med moderna material som akrylfärger vilket resulterar i ett otroligt djup och en unik kombination av det uråldriga och det moderna. När man ser på Canals målningar känner man det vida perspektivet av en uråldrig filosofisk värld – en lugn och harmonisk atmosfär, stämningen är meditativ och kompositionen delikat. Artisten säger att hon vill ge alla element ett jämställt men djupt detaljerat uttryck. I hennes målningar träder hon in i en ny virtuell dimension av lycka där människan och naturen möts i harmoni.

Sedan 1986 har Canal ställt ut hennes målningar i otaliga separat- och grupputställningar i Macau, Frankrike, Italien, Schweiz, Afrika, Finland och Tyskland etc.

Canal is an artist with roots in Chinese traditional painting and according to old tradition way she uses ink and rice paper as her primary mediums. Most of Canal’s works were inspired by ancient Chinese philosophy, literature and poetry.

In the last 15 years, Canal has developed an intensive and effective technique base on rice paper and ink; she blends the Chinese traditional mediums with the contemporary medium such as acrylic together to create a stunning depth and the unique fusion of ancient and new.

When looking at Canal’s paintings, we can feel the immense range of ancient philosophical world- the atmosphere is gentle and tranquil, the mood meditating and the composition beautifully subtle. The artist own expression is that she wants to give all elements an exquisite equal detail. Within her paintings, she enters into the realm of imagination of joy where man and nature meet in harmony.

Since 1986 that Canal has held numerous solo and selected exhibitions in different countries in Macau, France, Italy, Switzerland, Africa, Finland and Germany etc.
